The Creepshow TV series box set truly embraces the franchise’s origins and influences with a unique CRT TV display box, housing disc cases designed to look like classic comic books. The CRT TV’s display can switch between the series logo on a red background and a picture of ‘The Creep,’ adding a cool, dynamic element. Each of the four seasons comes in its own case, directly inspired by the in-universe Creepshow comics and Stephen King’s graphic novel. As an added bonus, you’ll receive a physical comic book based on ‘Skeletons in the Closet,’ one of the intriguing vignettes from Season 3, Episode 2.

Creepshow: Complete Series (Blu-ray)

Creepshow and its many follow-ups brilliantly fuse horror and comedy, paying homage to iconic comics like ‘Tales from the Crypt’ and ‘The Haunt of Fear.’ George Romero directed the 1982 original, an anthology film featuring five distinct short stories. These include a man who rises from the grave for revenge, a mysterious meteor that crash-lands on a farm, and a terrifying army of cockroaches pursuing an entomophobic man.
Stephen King made his screenwriting debut with ‘Creepshow,’ adapting two of the five tales from his own short fiction. The film overtly showcases its comic book influences, and King himself transformed the movie into a graphic novel in the same year it premiered.
Romero also penned the screenplay for ‘Creepshow 2,’ which was directed by the original film’s cinematographer, Michael Gornick. Although initially conceived with five vignettes, only three made it to the screen: ‘Old Chief Wood’nhead,’ ‘The Raft,’ and ‘The Hitch-hiker.’ All three are based on King’s short stories, with ‘The Raft’ being the only one previously published in his renowned ‘Skeleton Crew’ collection.
The excised King story, ‘Cat from Hell,’ later found its home in ‘Tales from the Darkside: The Movie’ in 1990. Shout Factory is also releasing a 4K Blu-ray Steelbook Edition of ‘Tales from the Darkside’ on December 23. This spin-off film was based on a TV series created by Romero in 1983. It’s no surprise that ‘Tales from the Darkside,’ also a horror-comedy anthology, emerged from the unexpected box office success of ‘Creepshow.’ The complete series of ‘Tales from the Darkside’ is available on DVD.

Creepshow franchise 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases
Beyond the special collector’s editions, the first two Creepshow anthologies are widely available on standard Blu-ray. While the Creepshow franchise includes a third film from 2006, it’s generally not well-regarded by fans. If you’re curious, a region-free Blu-ray edition of Creepshow 3 is available. All three films are also compiled in a DVD box set.
Another excellent option is the King of Horror 8-Film Collection, available on Blu-ray or DVD. This set features the original Creepshow movie, alongside other classics like ‘The Shining,’ ‘Shawshank Redemption,’ ‘The Green Mile,’ and the 1990 ‘It’ miniseries. The Blu-ray box set of this collection is currently offered at a notable discount.

Shudder’s TV series has also sparked a resurgence for ‘Creepshow’ in print. Skybound and Image Comics have released 20 new ‘Creepshow’ comics since 2022, with 15 collected into paperback volumes. Each volume features five unique comics penned and illustrated by prominent industry figures, including Garth Ennis and Joe Hill. Interestingly, Joe Hill, Stephen King’s eldest son, appeared in the original ‘Creepshow’ film as a child and, over 40 years later, contributed an official ‘Creepshow’ comic titled ‘Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station.’
The first issue of Volume 4 launched on September 17, with Volume 4 #2 set for October 22, and #3 scheduled for November 19.
To catch up on the ongoing anthology series, the first three volumes are available in trade paperback editions. Volume 3 was released in April, and the paperback edition of Volume 4 is anticipated for April 14, 2026. Last holiday season, Image Comics published a hardcover Deluxe Edition combining the first two volumes. This ‘Creepshow Deluxe Edition’ is currently available at a reduced price, nearly matching the combined cost of the two individual paperback editions.
Beyond the collected volumes, Joe Hill’s ‘Creepshow’ comic and three other one-shots are available as Kindle digital editions. A Kindle bundle containing all 20 released ‘Creepshow’ comics is also available. However, we highly recommend starting with Stephen King’s original graphic novel, available in paperback.
