Gearbox Software has officially unveiled the exciting details for Borderlands 4’s upcoming paid downloadable content. Titled “Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day,” this narrative-driven expansion is set to launch on November 20th, promising players brand-new story missions, formidable enemies, and an arsenal of legendary gear to chase.
These revelations came during a special panel at PAX Australia on October 11, where the developers teased the festive, yet chaotic, premise. It seems Mercenary Day (the Borderlands universe’s equivalent of Christmas) is under siege by the Timekeeper’s Minister of Culture. Players will join Rush and the intrepid Vault Hunters on a mission to restore order, employing their signature blend of firepower, explosive grenades, and unique skill-based abilities.
A captivating trailer for “Borderlands 4 – C4SH Vault Hunter Reveal Trailer” accompanied the announcement, giving fans a glimpse of the new action.
Beyond the immediate rewards from missions and collectibles, like unique Drone Skins or Vault Hunter Styles, players will also unlock a new Vault Card. This card offers a wealth of unlockable items, including 24 cosmetic pieces and 4 distinct pieces of “rerollable” legendary gear. This means players can acquire these powerful weapons multiple times, continually attempting to roll for their perfect stat combinations.
The Bounty Pack 1 Vault Card loot includes:
- 4 rerollable weapons
- 4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
- 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
- 5 Weapon Skins
- 5 Vehicle Skins
- 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins
- 2 ECHO-4 Attachments
“Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day” is included for owners of any Borderlands 4 Deluxe edition. For others, it can be acquired as a standalone purchase or as part of a bundle that features all four planned DLC packs.
Gearbox isn’t stopping there, though. They also teased upcoming free seasonal content, including the “Horrors of Kairos” mini-event, running from October 23rd to November 6th. During this event, players will encounter formidable world bosses in areas experiencing mysterious blood rain, each offering a chance at new legendary rewards. Additionally, fans can look forward to acquiring new seasonal cosmetics through special SHiFT codes.
Looking further ahead, Q4 will bring fresh endgame challenges, prominently featuring a daunting new boss: Bloomreaper the Invincible. This encounter is designed to be a raid-like experience, demanding significant build adjustments from players to overcome Bloomreaper’s colossal health pool and devastating attacks. It’s clear that Borderlands enthusiasts have an incredible amount of content on the horizon to anticipate!
The presentation concluded with a gallery showcasing “The Best Games Of 2025 (So Far)”, setting high expectations for the year’s gaming landscape.
