Tesla has enhanced the appeal of its Model Y Long Range variant in India by rolling out a significant range upgrade. The electric vehicle manufacturer, which introduced two battery options in India in July 2025, has now boosted the fully-loaded Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model to achieve 661 km on a single charge, a notable improvement from its previous 622 km (WLTP cycle).
This upgraded Long Range variant not only offers extended travel but also boasts a claimed top speed of 201 kmph, with the new figures reflecting an additional 39 km to the SUV’s range.
Inside, the Model Y continues to impress with its sophisticated cabin features. It includes a large 15.3-inch central touchscreen, power-adjustable front seats with both ventilation and heating, and heated, electrically foldable rear seats with a two-way layout. Passengers also benefit from an 8-inch rear screen, a premium 9-speaker sound system, elegant ambient lighting, dedicated air vents with electric controls for both rows, and a panoramic glass roof. Enhancing safety and convenience, the SUV’s advanced driver-assistance systems are powered by eight external cameras.
For the Indian market, the Model Y comes standard in Stealth Grey. Buyers have the option to choose from other premium colours such as Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quick Silver, and Ultra Red, with these choices adding up to Rs 1.85 lakh to the price depending on the shade. The standard all-black interior can also be upgraded to a stylish dual-tone black-and-white theme for an additional Rs 95,000.
In India, the Tesla Model Y faces stiff competition from other premium electric vehicles including the Kia EV6, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo’s XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. To instill confidence, Tesla provides a comprehensive 4-year or 80,000 km vehicle warranty, while the battery and drive unit are covered for 8 years or up to 1,92,000 km, whichever milestone is reached first.
