Great news for candidates aiming for postgraduate studies at IITs! The registration deadline for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026, conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, has been extended. The new last date to submit your application is October 20, 2025. Prospective students can complete their applications online via the official IIT JAM website at jam2026.iitb.ac.in.
To begin the application process, candidates must first register on the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). This involves providing your name, a valid email address, a working mobile number, and creating a password. Upon successful registration, you will receive an Enrollment ID and an OTP via email and SMS to the details you provided.
How to Apply for IIT JAM 2026:
Follow these simple steps to complete your online application:
- Visit the official IIT JAM website at jam2026.iitb.ac.in.
- Locate and click on the IIT JAM 2026 registration link on the homepage.
- On the new page, enter the required registration details.
- After completing registration, fill out the detailed application form.
- Proceed to pay the application fee.
- Submit your application and download the confirmation page for your records.
- It is advisable to keep a hard copy of the application for future reference.
The IIT JAM exam is scheduled to take place on February 15, 2026, across two sessions. The exam format is computer-based, covering seven test papers for undergraduate-level subjects. The question types will include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Candidates have the option to appear for one or two test papers.
Regarding the application fee, candidates from the Female/SC/ST/PwD categories will pay ₹1000 for one test paper and ₹1350 for two test papers. For all other categories, the fee is ₹2000 for one test paper and ₹2700 for two test papers.
Important note for applicants: If you need to correct any details such as Category, Gender, Examination City, or Date of Birth in your submitted application, you can do so by paying an additional fee of ₹300. Additionally, candidates can add or change their selected test paper(s) for an extra fee of ₹300, with the deadline for these modifications being November 10, 2025.
