Filmfare Awards 2025: Laapataa Ladies Dominates with Record 13 Wins; Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Kartik Aaryan Among Big Winners

The 70th edition of the prestigious Filmfare Awards unfolded in Ahmedabad, celebrating a spectacular year in Indian cinema. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ emerged as the undisputed star of the night, clinching an impressive 13 awards, including the coveted Best Film award, matching the record previously set by ‘Gully Boy’ for the most wins by a single film.

The evening was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, featuring captivating performances from industry stalwarts. In a thrilling tie for Best Actor in Leading Role (Male), Abhishek Bachchan was recognized for ‘I Want To Talk’, sharing the award with Kartik Aaryan for his role in ‘Chandu Champion’. Alia Bhatt took home the award for Best Actress in Leading Role for her performance in ‘Jigra’.

The critics also lauded exceptional talent, with Rajkummar Rao receiving the Critics’ Award for Best Actor (Male) for ‘Srikanth’, and Pratibha Rannta earning the Critics’ Award for Best Actor (Female) for ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Chhaya Kadam was honored with the Best Supporting Actor (Female) award for her role in ‘Laapataa Ladies’, and Ravi Kishan secured the Best Supporting Actor (Male) award for the same film.

Debut talent also shone brightly, with Nitanshi Goel winning Best Debut Actor (Female) for ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and Lakshya taking home the Best Debut Actor (Male) award for ‘Kill’. The Best Debut Director award was shared between Kunal Kemmu for ‘Madgaon Express’ and Aditya Suhas Jambhale for ‘Article 370’.

  • Best Action: Seayoung Oh and Parvez Shaikh for ‘Kill’
  • Best Screenplay: Sneha Desai for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Story: Aditya Dhar and Monal Thakkar for ‘Article 370’
  • Best Dialogue: Sneha Desai for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Music Album: Ram Sampath for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Lyrics: Prashant Pandey for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Playback Singer (Male): Arijit Singh for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Playback Singer (Female): Madhubanti Bagchi for ‘Stree 2’
  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Ritesh Shah and Tushar Sheetal Jain for ‘I Want To Talk’
  • Best Film: ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Director: Kiran Rao for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Critics’ Award for Best Film: ‘I Want to Talk’ (Shoojit Sircar)
  • Best Sound Design: Subash Sahoo for ‘Kill’
  • Best Background Score: Ram Sampath for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best VFX: Redefine for ‘Munjya’
  • Best Choreography: Bosco-Caesar for ‘Tauba Tauba’ from ‘Bad Newz’
  • Best Editing: Shivkumar V. Panicker for ‘Kill’
  • Best Costume: Darshan Jalan for ‘Laapataa Ladies’
  • Best Production Design: Mayur Sharma for ‘Kill’
  • Best Cinematography: Rafey Mehmood for ‘Kill’

Special Awards:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal (Posthumously)
  • RD Burman Award for Upcoming Talent in Music: Achint Thakkar for ‘Jigra’, ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’
