Rishab Shetty’s latest cinematic endeavor, Kantara Chapter 1, is making significant waves in the box office, recently crossing the impressive ₹500 crore mark worldwide within just nine days of its release. Adding another feather to its cap, the film has now achieved a notable milestone by surpassing the opening week ticket sales of two highly anticipated films: Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Rajinikanth’s Jailer, both released in 2023.

A Triumph on BookMyShow
According to reports from Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 secured the third-highest ticket sales for its opening week on the popular ticketing platform BookMyShow. The film managed to sell approximately 8.20 million tickets in its initial eight days, a figure that edges out the sales for Jawan (7.65 million tickets) and Jailer (6.60 million tickets). For context, Jawan achieved a global box office collection of ₹1,160 crore, while Jailer grossed ₹604.5 crore worldwide.
This achievement places Kantara Chapter 1 in esteemed company on BookMyShow’s all-time first-week sales chart, trailing only behind major blockbusters like Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 and Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD, which recorded sales of 12.53 million and 8.47 million tickets, respectively. The film’s strong performance continues into its second week, demonstrating its sustained appeal to audiences.
