While the indie gaming world often buzzes about titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong, another incredible success story is emerging. Critical Reflex recently launched their new horror game, ‘No, I’m Not a Human,’ and it’s quickly captured a massive audience on Twitch within just days of its release.
‘No, I’m Not a Human’ achieved an impressive milestone, reaching over 124,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch. In contrast, its performance on Steam has been more modest, with a peak of 8,248 players. This difference might be attributed to its single-player nature, as opposed to a multiplayer experience, which often sees higher concurrent player counts on platforms like Steam.
Developed by the Russian studio Trioskaz, ‘No, I’m Not a Human’ thrusts players into a near-future apocalyptic setting. The intense daylight makes outdoor survival impossible for humans, forcing them to emerge only at night. However, the cover of darkness brings new threats: ‘Visitors,’ deadly entities that often mimic human form, hunt for their next prey.
Players find themselves confined to their home, encountering individuals seeking assistance. While some of these guests might offer genuine aid for survival, a pervasive tension lingers: are they truly human, or are they cunning Visitors poised to deceive and eliminate sleeping inhabitants? The core challenge lies in discerning the subtle cues that distinguish friend from foe. Each night, news broadcasts reveal new Visitor characteristics, yet some traits cleverly overlap with human attributes, making every decision a perilous gamble.
Currently, ‘No, I’m Not a Human’ is exclusively available on PC, though publisher Critical Reflex has expressed intentions to release console versions in the future.
