The highly anticipated Battlefield 6 has made an explosive debut on Steam, immediately drawing in over 740,000 concurrent players.
Upon this report’s release, Battlefield 6 had amassed an astounding 747,440 concurrent players on Steam. This incredible figure positions EA’s latest first-person shooter as the second most-played title on Valve’s platform, right behind the ever-popular Counter-Strike 2. It has also soared to become the 14th most-played game ever on Steam, with Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 next in its sights.
To put this into perspective, the Battlefield 6 open beta previously peaked at 521,079 concurrent players. The official launch numbers dramatically surpass any previous Battlefield title on Steam. What’s more, Battlefield 6, a premium $70 game, has already outpaced EA’s former Steam record-holder, the free-to-play Apex Legends, making its accomplishment even more remarkable.
For those curious, the combined Call of Duty application on Steam, which includes all games in the franchise, registered a peak of 491,670 concurrent players. This means Battlefield 6 is well on track to significantly surpass the record held by its long-standing FPS competitor.
The actual total player count across all platforms is undoubtedly much higher, especially considering PlayStation and Xbox figures are not publicly disclosed. (This also applies to Call of Duty, which traditionally sees stronger performance on consoles than PC.) As anticipated, some Battlefield 6 players are encountering brief server queues, though these are generally quick to resolve. Despite being early days, all signs point to Battlefield 6 being an undeniable blockbuster success for EA.
Beyond its impressive player numbers, Battlefield 6 is also already home to creative community content, with one dedicated fan impressively recreating the beloved Modern Warfare map, Shipment, within the game’s Portal mode.
