The acclaimed studio Bloober Team, developers behind the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake and Cronos: The New Dawn, is busy with several exciting new projects. Among them is “Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece Edition,” a specially optimized version of their disorienting horror game set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, their subsidiary, Broken Mirror Games, is developing a suite of smaller titles, including a mysterious Nintendo Switch exclusive currently known only as “Project M.”
While an exact release date for The Masterpiece Edition remains undisclosed (it’s still slated for 2025, though the year is quickly drawing to a close), Bloober Team’s recent investor briefing describes it as a “complete edition.” This suggests it will likely bundle the original game with all its downloadable content, alongside the enhanced visuals introduced in the 2023 Layers of Fears remake.
Broken Mirror Games also has several intriguing projects underway. Fans can look forward to the isometric horror title “I Hate This Place,” inspired by the classic 80s comic. Although previously announced for release next month, it has now been delayed to January 29, 2026. Beyond that, two more games are in active development under codenames: “Project M” and “Project F.”
Details about “Project F” are scarce, but “Project M” is expected to launch next year. A live-action teaser released earlier this year offered few clues, though the “M” has sparked speculation, with “Marionette” being a popular guess. Bloober Team has confirmed that this mysterious title will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive, playable on both the upcoming Switch 2 and the original console.
In other exciting news, following the phenomenal success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team is also embarking on a remake of the very first Silent Hill game. While concrete details are sparse, a brief tease at June’s Konami Press Start Live showcase revealed the familiar Silent Hill logo and its iconic, haunting music. No release date has been announced yet. This development follows February’s news that Bloober Team had partnered with Konami to create a new title based on the Japanese company’s intellectual property.
For context, our review of the 2023 Layers of Fear remake gave it an ‘Okay’ rating of 6/10. We noted at the time that, “Layers of Fear is an atmospheric tour through the shattered psyches of some seriously tortured artists, but predictable shock tactics fail to provide more than a handful of genuine scares, let alone layers of them.”
