Warner Bros. has officially confirmed the sequel we’ve all been waiting for: Minecraft 2 is on its way!
Mark your calendars for July 23, 2027, because that’s when both Minecraft 2 and Disney’s The Simpsons Movie 2 are scheduled to hit the big screen, setting up a monumental cinematic clash.
This sets the stage for an explosive blockbuster battle! Considering the first Minecraft Movie earned an incredible $957,849,195 globally after its April release, The Simpsons sequel will certainly face stiff competition at the box office.
While Warner Bros. has currently listed the film as an “untitled Minecraft sequel,” its final title might change. What we do know for certain is that Jared Hess, who directed the first Minecraft Movie, is returning for the sequel and will also be co-writing the script with Chris Galletta. Fans can likely expect stars like Jack Black and Jason Momoa to reprise their roles.
“Plot details remain deep in the mine for now,” Warner Bros. humorously teased, keeping fans guessing about the story.

Will Minecraft 2 recreate the same wild theatrical excitement as its predecessor, complete with viral moments like the “Chicken Jockey” scene? And could Jack Black once again deliver another chart-topping film song, following the unexpected success of “Steve’s Lava Chicken” earlier this year?
It’s highly probable! While we eagerly await more details, consider revisiting the first Minecraft Movie review and learn about how the film’s creative team even had a private server where they played the game together.
