Years of anticipation culminate as the legendary horror icon, Ghostface, finally slashes his way into Fortnite! This highly-awaited addition, part of Fortnitemares 2025, joins a thrilling lineup of horror crossovers including Scooby-Doo, Art the Clown from Terrifier, and characters from indie hits like REPO and Poppy Playtime. However, none received the meticulous attention to detail quite like Ghostface, especially with the introduction of a game-changing, Scream-inspired weapon.
Fortnite’s latest Halloween extravaganza unveils the ‘Last Call’ weapon, a knife directly inspired by the infamous Scream slasher. More than just a simple cosmetic, this weapon boasts a suite of unique features: enhanced movement abilities, authentic voice lines, and an automatic Ghostface costume transformation upon equipping it. Unlike mere reskins such as the Scooby Snacks or Doja Cat’s Thorn Ripper, the ‘Last Call’ is an unprecedented item in Fortnite, a testament to Epic’s remarkable design prowess and a true delight for Scream fans.

The method of acquiring the ‘Last Call’ knife is as thematic as the weapon itself. You won’t find it in chests or as floor loot. Instead, players must seek out a mysterious phone booth. Stepping inside temporarily transforms you into Ghostface, complete with the all-black costume and signature white mask. This costume switches back whenever you unequip the knife, a clever nod to the Scream franchise’s recurring theme of multiple individuals donning the Ghostface persona throughout its history.
It’s quite amusing to switch between other horror icons, like Michael Myers, and then instantly become Ghostface with a simple button press. This subtle yet impactful aesthetic choice perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Scream series, offering a taste of the Ghostface experience even to players who haven’t purchased the official skin.
Beyond its unique acquisition, the ‘Last Call’ knife is packed with special features. Wielding it grants a significant speed boost, a defining characteristic that sets Ghostface apart from many other horror villains. While characters like Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers stalk their victims with a terrifying, deliberate pace, Ghostface is known for sudden, terrifying sprints. Epic’s decision to integrate this movement buff brilliantly captures the killer’s unsettling agility.
The pièce de résistance is the knife’s integrated ‘phone call’ ability. This allows you to ‘call’ other players on the map, effectively pinging anyone within the item’s radius after a brief cooldown. The ringing phone is an iconic auditory cue from the very beginning of the Scream series, and Roger L. Jackson’s voice, taunting victims and stalking them from the shadows, is as crucial to the franchise’s identity as the mask itself.
Fortnite’s Ghostface weapon, the Last Call knife, includes a costume switch, a phone that calls and pings nearby enemies, faster movement, and voice lines (even if they’re a bit muffled by pumpkin launcher noises). It’s incredibly cool!

Each time you pick up the ‘Last Call’ knife from a phone booth in Fortnite, you’re treated to one of Ghostface’s chilling voice lines, seemingly reprised by Roger L. Jackson himself. Successfully pinging an enemy with the calling ability triggers another unique phrase. I’ve encountered several distinct lines during just a few rounds with the ‘Last Call,’ truly enriching the role-playing experience and honoring the character’s almost 30-year legacy.
As a devoted Scream fan, I find myself making a point to snag the ‘Last Call’ every round. I’ve even started playing knife-only matches (with some movement items and heals, of course) to fully embrace the role of my favorite horror villain. There’s even a Fortnitemares quest specifically tasking players to use it on seven different opponents.
While Epic consistently delivers innovative items each season, the depth of thoughtfulness behind this Ghostface crossover is truly exceptional. Such intricate design is often reserved for major Star Wars and Marvel collaborations. As someone who admittedly doesn’t connect with those franchises but boasts a Ghostface tattoo, it’s incredibly thrilling to see Fortnite go the extra mile for a series I deeply love.
