Excitement is building among Fortnite players, who are now convinced a highly anticipated mini-season dedicated to The Simpsons is just around the corner. This belief follows the surprise in-game appearance of the beloved alien duo, Kang and Kodos.
Whispers of a Simpsons-themed event have been circulating all year, and the recent Star Wars mini-season, dubbed “Chapter 6: Mini-Season 1,” only intensified the chatter. Since Fortnite Chapters usually span a full year, many players anticipate a “Mini-Season 2” arriving before the current Chapter concludes in December.
And now, as Fortnite dives headfirst into its annual Halloween festivities, a new glider has been discovered, proudly showcasing The Simpsons’ alien duo Kang and Kodos. What’s more, its in-game description strongly hints at a dedicated Battle Pass, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation.
A leaked image of the Fortnite Simpsons glider, shared by Shiina (@ShiinaBR), quickly went viral, confirming the alien duo’s arrival and the battle pass reference.
Remarkably, this glider marks the very first time any character from The Simpsons has made an appearance in Fortnite. This is particularly notable given Fortnite‘s extensive history of collaborations with nearly every major Disney-owned franchise, from Star Wars and Marvel to Pixar, Avatar, and even fellow Fox properties like Family Guy.
Sources suggest that Kang and Kodos will be offered to players as a free quest reward very soon. This is most likely a clever teaser for the game’s eagerly awaited Simpsons event, potentially tying into the show’s iconic annual “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween specials.
Meanwhile, The Simpsons recently kicked off its 37th season with an episode that saw Marge fondly recalling the ’90s and Homer pondering the rapid release of movies to streaming services. Co-showrunner Matt Selman commented during the season’s launch that the show has no intention of becoming more topical, stating, “the topical is so chaotic and nuts.”
Fortnite players are holding high expectations for this potential Simpsons crossover. It’s expected to land during the same end-of-year period that previously brought fan-favorite events like the return to the OG Chapter 1 map in 2023, and a Snoop Dogg/Eminem-themed remix of the Chapter 2 map in 2024.
The big question on everyone’s mind: could The Simpsons crossover offer a fresh take on Fortnite‘s Chapter 3 era, or are players about to drop into an entirely new map inspired by Springfield? As these theories swirl, Fortnite is currently in full swing with its most packed Fortnitemares event to date, featuring exciting collaborations with characters from Wednesday, the Scooby-Doo gang, and even Ghostface from Scream.
However, not all recent Fortnite reveals have been smooth sailing. Last night’s Fortnitemares announcement hit a snag when rap star Doja Cat openly criticized a social media post that was meant to be from her, due to an unexpected and rather explicit reference it contained.
