ZEE5, in partnership with PRK Productions, has officially announced the premiere date for the much-awaited Kannada web series, Maarigallu. The announcement came with an exciting teaser, narrated by actor Dhananjaya, which revealed a striking surprise: the appearance of the beloved late actor Puneeth Rajkumar as Mayurasharma, the revered founder of the Kadamba dynasty and Karnataka’s first king.
The series transports viewers to Sirsi in the 1990s, where an age-old clue to a lost Kadamba-era treasure comes to light. What starts as an optimistic quest soon transforms into a gripping and eerie adventure, intertwining themes of greed, unwavering faith, and primal fear. The narrative will leave audiences pondering whether a mysterious, divine intervention or mere destiny dictates their ultimate fate. Mark your calendars: Maarigallu is set to debut on ZEE5 on October 31, 2025.
Maarigallu boasts an impressive ensemble cast, introducing talents like Rangayana Raghu, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, and Praveen Tej to the web series format. They are joined by familiar faces such as television actor Ninaad Hrithsa, Prashanth Siddi, and AS Suraj, who rose to prominence through Zee Kannada’s popular reality show, Drama Juniors.
Behind the scenes, the series is produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, with Devraj Poojary at the helm as both writer and director. S.K. Rao masterfully captured the visuals as the cinematographer, while the musical score was crafted by L.V. Muthu and L.V. Ganesh. The immersive sound design is credited to Ravi Hiremat.
Producer Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar shared her heartfelt sentiments about the project, stating, “Maarigallu holds a deeply special place at PRK Productions as it embodies one of Appu’s (Puneeth Rajkumar’s affectionate nickname) cherished dreams. Puneeth always envisioned bringing our rich, local stories to the web series platform – narratives that, while deeply rooted in our land, resonated with universal human emotions. With Maarigallu, we’ve strived to honor and realize that vision, presenting a story rich in mystery, profound devotion, and the vibrant cultural spirit of Karnataka.”
