Realme has officially announced the date for revealing its camera collaboration for the upcoming flagship GT 8 smartphone series. Two company executives recently confirmed on social media that this exciting announcement will take place on Thursday, October 9. The buzz suggests that Ricoh is the expected partner, though Realme has kept the name under wraps. Intriguingly, earlier teasers for the Realme GT 8 series hinted at a groundbreaking design featuring swappable camera modules.
Realme to Unveil Camera Partner This Week
Francis Wong, Realme Global’s Head of Product Marketing, shared on X (previously Twitter) that the company will announce its “world-renowned” camera brand collaboration on October 9. He did not, however, disclose further details about the device at that time.
Realme’s President of Global Marketing, Xu Qi Chase, confirmed on Weibo that this camera partnership specifically targets the upcoming Realme GT 8 series, encompassing both the standard Realme GT 8 and the more advanced Realme GT 8 Pro models.
While many anticipate Ricoh to be the camera brand, an official confirmation from Realme is still pending. We will have to wait until Thursday for the definitive reveal.
Earlier details indicated that the flagship Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to boast a powerful 200-megapixel 1/1.56-inch Samsung HP5 periscope telephoto camera. A particularly exciting feature teased for the phone is a swappable rear camera module, offering users a choice of at least three distinct designs.
These interchangeable modules are showcased with various aesthetics, including a circular, a robot-inspired, and a square design. It appears that swapping these modules might require specific tools, as they seem to be secured by small screws.
Furthermore, previous reports suggest that the Realme GT 8 Pro might also incorporate a 50-megapixel 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), complemented by a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultrawide-angle camera.
