WhatsApp is reportedly testing an innovative feature for its iOS application, designed to make sharing status updates significantly more intuitive. According to a prominent feature tracker, the Meta-owned messaging platform is developing new quick sharing options for status updates. These new capabilities are expected to allow users to share their updates effortlessly, removing the need to navigate through separate applications. This functionality was previously also observed under development for WhatsApp’s Android version.
Upcoming WhatsApp Updates to Include Swift Sharing Options
As detailed by the feature tracker WABetaInfo, recent code discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 25.28.10.72) indicates the app is actively working on a quick sharing feature for status updates. While not yet publicly available, it is anticipated to be rolled out in a future version of the app.
New quick sharing toggles for Facebook and Instagram on WhatsApp

Based on a screenshot shared by the feature tracker, WhatsApp plans to refresh the interface of its status updates page, aligning its appearance more closely with Instagram’s design. Users will notice a view count located in the bottom-left corner of the screen. A more significant change, however, is the introduction of two new quick sharing options specifically for Meta’s other platforms: Facebook and Instagram.
With these new options, users will gain the ability to effortlessly cross-post their status updates across Facebook and Instagram.
The feature tracker also emphasized that users will retain full control over where their status updates are shared. They will be able to manually post to Instagram, Facebook, or both platforms independently. This ensures that sharing an update on one platform does not automatically post it to the other without explicit user consent.
To utilize this new functionality, users may be required to link their WhatsApp account to the Meta Accounts Centre, a centralized hub that manages the connections between Meta’s various applications.
WABetaInfo further reported that these quick sharing options for status updates are currently under development and are exclusively accessible to beta testers enrolled through Apple’s TestFlight program. A broader rollout for testing purposes is expected in the coming weeks.
