Actor-producer Ravi Mohan has achieved a temporary legal triumph at the Madras High Court concerning the title of his upcoming film, ‘Bro Code’. According to Live Law, the High Court has issued an interim injunction favouring Ravi Mohan’s production company, Ravi Mohan Studios. The injunction temporarily bars the beverage manufacturer Indobevs, which produces a drink under the same name, from using the title and from issuing any threats of copyright infringement against the film’s production.
The court has ordered the beverage company to be notified and has indicated that the interim order may be extended if the notice is not duly served. This legal battle stems from Indobevs’ claim that the film’s title infringes upon their trademark, which they had applied for registration, specifically for alcoholic and energy beverages.
Ravi Mohan’s legal team argued that the use of ‘Bro Code’ for the film does not infringe upon the trademark rights of the beverage company. He had approached the court to secure a permanent injunction against any threats or interference in the movie’s production, promotion, and marketing.
In recent professional news, Ravi Mohan was last seen in the romantic comedy ‘Kadhalika Neramillai’. He is set to make his debut as both producer and director with the film ‘An Ordinary Man’, starring Yogi Babu. Additionally, he is producing and starring in ‘Bro Code’, directed by Karthik Yogi, which features an ensemble cast including SJ Suryah, Arjun Ashokan, Upendra, Gouri Priya, Shraddha Srinath, Malavika Manoj, and Aishwarya Raj.
