Ilan M., popularly known as Amine Mojito, a French influencer, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, with six months suspended, by the Paris Criminal Court on October 3rd. The sentence comes after he was convicted of “violence with a weapon that did not result in incapacity for work” for a series of disturbing pranks. Mojito filmed videos where he pretended to stab unsuspecting people on the streets of Paris with empty syringes. While the syringes were empty, the victims were understandably horrified. The 27-year-old prankster expressed remorse during his court appearance, stating he was unaware of the broader social impact of his actions and was merely imitating content he saw online. His lawyer noted that the court’s decision aimed to bring the situation back into proportion after an initial media frenzy, balancing public order with her client’s rights.
