Taylor Swift continues to dominate headlines, this time with her latest album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’ Beyond her musical success, the Grammy-winning artist is proving to be a formidable force in the film industry as well. Reports suggest that her new movie release, tied to her album, has significantly outperformed films by established stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson at the box office.
While DiCaprio and Johnson are renowned for their ability to draw audiences to theaters, Swift’s latest venture has presented them with unexpected competition. The film, ‘The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,’ premiered on October 3rd and, despite a short theatrical run concluding on October 5th, has already made a substantial impact.
According to Billboard, ‘The Official Release Party of Showgirl’ debuted at number one in the domestic box office and is projected to gross over $35 million during its opening weekend. In contrast, DiCaprio’s film, ‘One Battle After Another,’ saw a significant drop, earning 43% less on its opening day compared to initial projections. Similarly, Johnson’s ‘The Smashing Machine’ is anticipated to earn around $6 million, falling short of its projected $12-$14 million.
Looking ahead, DiCaprio is set to star in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wager,’ while Johnson is slated to appear in Benny Safdie’s ‘Lizard Music.’ Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s new album is now available for streaming on various platforms.
