An Assam court has ordered a 14-day police remand for Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, two band members of the renowned singer-composer Zubeen Garg. This decision comes as part of the ongoing investigation into Garg’s untimely death.
Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), confirmed the court’s decision, stating that the interrogation of all four arrested individuals is currently in progress. Further details cannot be disclosed at this critical juncture of the probe.
Goswami and Mahanta were taken into custody on Thursday following extensive questioning. Both were reportedly present on the yacht in Singapore where Zubeen Garg tragically passed away on September 19 while swimming in the sea.
In a related development, murder charges have already been filed against Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta. They were arrested in Delhi earlier on Wednesday, indicating a widening scope of the investigation.
