Shashank Khaitan, the director behind the popular ‘Dulhania’ franchise starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, has debunked rumors surrounding his upcoming film, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.’ Addressing speculation that Alia Bhatt was the first choice for the lead role and that the film was initially planned as ‘Dulhania 3,’ Khaitan clarified that these claims are untrue.
In a conversation with Free Press Journal, Khaitan stated that ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ was always conceived as an independent project and was never intended to be part of the ‘Dulhania’ series. He further explained that Alia Bhatt was not offered the role because she was committed to other projects for the foreseeable future when the film was in its early development stages.
Khaitan revealed that he and Varun Dhawan had indeed discussed various film ideas with Alia Bhatt on multiple occasions, including potential ‘Dulhania’ films. However, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ was always a separate concept.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ features Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, with Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Manish Paul, and Akshay Oberoi also in the cast. The film, produced by Dharma Productions, has been released in theaters, and reportedly had a strong opening day at the box office.
The movie’s plot centers around Varun’s character Sunny and Janhvi’s character Tulsi. They meet in Delhi with the aim of reconnecting with their former partners. In an attempt to make their exes jealous, they pretend to be a couple, which leads to a series of humorous events and misunderstandings.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt has several promising projects in the pipeline. She is set to star in YRF’s ‘Alpha’ alongside Sharvari and Bobby Deol, directed by Shiv Rawail, which is scheduled for release on December 25. Additionally, Alia is working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film ‘Love & War,’ co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
