Veteran actor and talk show host Simi Garewal has shared an unconventional perspective on the demon king Ravan this Dussehra. In a social media post, Garewal offered a fresh take on Ravan’s traditional vilification, playfully suggesting his actions might be better categorized as ‘slightly naughty’ rather than outright evil.
Garewal humorously questioned Ravan’s supposed villainy, stating, “After all, what did you do? You kidnapped a lady in haste… but after that, you gave her more respect than we normally give to women in today’s world. You offered her good food, shelter, even women security guards (not too good looking though).”
Adding a political jab, she remarked, “And… I believe you were more educated than half of our Parliament. Trust me dude… there ain’t no hard feelings to burn you… Just that it’s the In-Thing. Happy Dussehra.”
Dussehra, celebrated as Vijayadashami, marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravan, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. It concludes the nine-day Navratri festival with traditions like effigy burning and Ramleela performances.
Simi Garewal, an acclaimed actress, television host, and filmmaker, is celebrated for her impactful roles in films like ‘Do Badan’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ as well as her insightful interview series ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal,’ which famously captured candid moments with Bollywood’s biggest stars.
