The Israeli military has confirmed the launch of an expanded operation in Gaza City on Tuesday, September 15, 2025, advising residents to immediately relocate to the southern parts of the territory.
This intensified military action is aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure.
The announcement regarding the operation’s expansion came from Israel’s Arabic language spokesperson, Avichay Adree, via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday morning. This followed a night of severe bombardments across northern Gaza, which resulted in at least 20 fatalities.
For the past month, Israel has been issuing warnings to Gaza City inhabitants to evacuate in anticipation of this major operation. However, many residents have expressed significant difficulties in complying, citing severe overcrowding in southern Gaza and the prohibitive costs associated with transportation.
