Marvel star Channing Tatum recently hinted that the highly anticipated movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is poised to deliver jaw-dropping surprises that will far exceed anything seen in previous MCU films. He claims it will top the shock value of Wesley Snipes’ Blade appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine by an astounding factor of 50.
Tatum, who is reprising his role as Gambit in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, confirmed that principal photography for the film has now wrapped.
In a recent interview, Tatum was asked about fan expectations for the upcoming movie. With Marvel assembling its largest cast to date for multiversal adventures and a much-anticipated confrontation with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Tatum’s excitement was palpable.
“[Marvel] set a bar for themselves every movie and they beat it every single movie,” Tatum explained. “And I can tell you this: as I was reading I was like, ‘How are they going to do this?! I don’t know how they’re going to do this.’ You’re just not ready.”
He continued, “It’s gonna make your brains ooze out of your ears, like in the way I knew when Blade walks on screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, people are going to physically lose their actual minds. It’s that but maybe times 50. It’s just gonna be one of them things. And just the story… I can’t divulge anything but as a comic fan, you just aren’t ready.”
When playfully pressed by the interviewer to reveal the biggest troublemaker on set, Tatum started to say a name that sounded like it began with the letter “D…” before catching himself and laughing, “I can’t say.”
Fan anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday is already soaring, fueled by numerous set leaks and casting rumors (shout-out to Alan Cumming for the whispers!). These tidbits have hinted at new costume designs, including a peek at Franklin the baby, unannounced cameos, and even the potential top-secret return of some beloved past Avengers stars.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Marvel then plans to outdo itself once more with Avengers: Secret Wars, arriving a year later on December 17, 2027.
