Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Could It Finally Launch at an Upcoming Global Summit?

Reading Time: 2 min

Samsung’s groundbreaking tri-folding smartphone is rumored to make its grand debut later this year. Despite Samsung’s silence on the matter, recent reports hint at a potential launch during an upcoming international summit. This highly anticipated device, likely to be christened the Galaxy Z TriFold, is expected to showcase an innovative G-style inward folding mechanism and an expansive 9.96-inch display when fully unfurled. Samsung had previously offered a glimpse of this tri-fold marvel at its Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January. Initially, its availability might be exclusive to markets in China and South Korea.

According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, drawing on unnamed industry insiders, Samsung is poised to unleash its inaugural tri-fold smartphone at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. This high-profile event is slated for October 31 to November 1 in Gyeongju, South Korea. Reports indicate that Samsung intends to officially reveal the tri-folding smartphone during an exhibition held concurrently with the summit.

This upcoming tri-fold device from Samsung is set to represent a significant leap forward from its current book-style foldable Galaxy Z series. The design is anticipated to feature a distinctive G-style aesthetic, allowing the screen to fold into three distinct sections.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Unveiling the Details

When completely unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold promises to deliver a seamless, tablet-like experience. However, initial availability of this innovative phone might be restricted to South Korea and China, with production volumes potentially capped at approximately 50,000 units.

Whispers around the Galaxy Z TriFold suggest an impressive 9.96-inch screen when fully extended, shrinking to a more compact 6.54-inch display when folded. Powering this device is rumored to be a cutting-edge silicon-carbon battery, alongside a formidable Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Photography enthusiasts can look forward to a triple camera system, headlined by a massive 200-megapixel primary sensor. Anticipate the handset running on Android 16, topped with Samsung’s custom One UI 8.

Samsung, a pioneer in the foldable smartphone arena since 2019, gave us a tantalizing preview of its first tri-fold smartphone during the Galaxy Unpacked event this past January. This innovative tri-fold design could be Samsung’s next major step in maintaining its lead in the evolving foldable market. Currently, Huawei stands as the sole manufacturer offering tri-fold smartphones, with its Mate XT Ultimate Design and Mate XTs models already available.
