U.S. law enforcement agencies are asserting that the horrific murder of an Indian-origin motel manager in Dallas could have been entirely prevented. They claim the accused individual, a Cuban national with a violent criminal background, was released into the country by the current administration, leading to a tragic and avoidable loss of life.
In a public statement, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) declared: “A hotel manager was beheaded in front of his family by a convicted predator illegal alien from Cuba. Cuba refused to take him, so the Biden admin released him onto the American streets a week prior to President Trump taking office. This criminal illegal alien should have never…”
The victim, 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, was working at the Downtown Suites motel when he was attacked and killed by his co-worker, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez. Martinez, a 37-year-old Cuban national, was known to have a history of violent criminal behavior.
Authorities from the federal agency vehemently stated that Martinez, described as a ‘criminal undocumented immigrant,’ should never have been permitted to remain in the United States.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) went further, labeling Cobos-Martinez a ‘vile monster.’ They detailed the gruesome act, stating he beheaded Nagamallaiah directly in front of his wife and child, then proceeded to kick the victim’s head.
A spokesperson for the DHS reiterated their stance, emphasizing that “this gruesome, savage slaying was entirely preventable” had the individual not been released by the Biden administration after Cuba declined his repatriation.
This incident, the DHS highlighted, underscores their current policy of removing undocumented individuals with criminal records to third countries when their home nations refuse to accept them.
The agency further quoted President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, stating that ‘barbaric criminals’ will no longer be allowed to remain indefinitely in America. They warned that those who enter the country unlawfully could face deportation to third countries such as Eswatini, Uganda, South Sudan, or even CECOT—a maximum security prison in El Salvador known as the Terrorism Confinement Centre.
Senator Ted Cruz, representing Texas, condemned the murder, asserting that Nagamallaiah was brutally killed by an undocumented individual with a terrible criminal history, who was allegedly released into the country under the current U.S. leadership.
Senator Cruz expressed deep sorrow, stating that Nagamallaiah “should still be with us today, living peacefully with his family in Dallas.” He called for the perpetrator to be punished “to the fullest extent of the law.”
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, in his own remarks, had previously described Nagamallaiah as a “well-respected person” and stated that the accused would face first-degree murder charges.
Mr. Trump shared his awareness of the “terrible reports” concerning Nagamallaiah’s murder. He reiterated that the 50-year-old Indian-origin man was brutally beheaded in front of his wife and son by an ‘undocumented immigrant’ from Cuba who, according to Trump, “should have never been in our country.”
Trump affirmed that the individual in custody “will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law” and “will be charged with murder in the first degree.”
Furthermore, Mr. Trump highlighted the accused’s prior arrests for “terrible crimes,” including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment. He alleged that the individual was released back into the U.S. under the “incompetent” leadership of former President Joe Biden because Cuba itself refused to accept “such an evil person” back into their nation.
He concluded with a promise: “Rest assured, the time for being soft on these undocumented immigrant criminals is over under my watch!” He praised his administration’s team, including Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Border Czar Tom Homan, for their efforts in “making America safe again.”
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi also voiced his horror at Nagamallaiah’s brutal murder, emphasizing that the victim was a diligent Indian-American immigrant tragically killed before his wife and son. Krishnamoorthi extended his “deepest condolences” to the family and insisted that “the perpetrator must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
It was confirmed that Cobos-Martinez had been released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody earlier in the year. His deportation was reportedly refused by Cuba itself, citing his extensive criminal record.
