T.J. Srinivasaraj has been elected unopposed as the President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) for an upcoming three-year term, spanning 2025-2028. This significant election took place on Sunday at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium.
Srinivasaraj, who is the Managing Director of Freight Consol International Pvt Ltd and Freyer International Logistics Pvt Ltd, brings a strong background in supporting cricket. His companies currently back five teams in the TNCA league, including two in the prestigious first division: Nelson SC and Sea Hawks CC. Furthermore, Freyer has been a consistent sponsor of TNCA’s women’s challengers (one-day and T20) competitions since 2022.
The election also saw M. Kumaresh and R. Rangarajan secure their positions unopposed as Vice-President and Treasurer, respectively.
For the other contested roles, U. Bhagwandas Rao, a former Apex Council member, was elected Secretary, defeating S. Prabhu. K. Sriram won the Joint Secretary position against A.S. Rangarajan, while C. Mareeswaran was elected Assistant Secretary after overcoming challenges from Kalidas Vandiyar and K.S. Srinivasan.
Speaking to the media after his election, Srinivasaraj highlighted the immense talent present in the districts of Tamil Nadu, stating his administration’s commitment to nurturing and showcasing this potential. He also provided an update on the iconic Chepauk ground, which is undergoing renovations for the 2026 T20 World Cup, confirming it is expected to be ready within the next 30 to 40 days.
Regarding other cricket facilities, Srinivasaraj noted that the newly opened Velammal cricket stadium in Madurai, developed by the Velammal Educational Group, and the state government’s upcoming stadium in Coimbatore, are not currently equipped to host international matches. When questioned about the possibility of the Madurai stadium hosting Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) matches, he indicated that discussions are still ongoing and no decision has been made, adding that neither ground is yet officially affiliated with the TNCA.
