Aryan Khan, who made his directorial debut with ‘The Fabulous Boys of Bollywood,’ a web series that humorously satirizes the entertainment industry, initially had reservations about taking on the directorial duties. However, his father, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, stepped in with a piece of advice that encouraged Aryan to embrace the challenge.
During a recent meet-and-greet with fans, Shah Rukh Khan shared that when asked about advising his son, he clarified that he only offers guidance when sought. He recounted how Aryan was hesitant about directing ‘The Fabulous Boys of Bollywood,’ even considering hiring another director. Shah Rukh’s response was reassuring: “But I feel that those who write and then direct themselves become better directors in a sense. So, I told him to follow his heart and direct it. Dekhenge kya hoga, kitna bura kar lega (We’ll see what happens. How bad can you do).”
Shah Rukh believes that granting creative freedom to individuals fosters better results. He stated that this advice, coupled with the support of his core team, empowered Aryan to direct the series himself. The show, co-created by Aryan, Manav Chauhan, and Bilal Siddiqui, features a cast including Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Sahher Bambba, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa. It garnered largely positive reviews and achieved record viewership numbers on Netflix following its release in November.
