In a tragic incident in Bundi, Rajasthan, a 23-year-old police constable, Kishanlal Sharma, died from a gunshot wound sustained by his service revolver while he was on duty at the Bundi Post Office building. The event took place around 9 PM on Sunday night, coinciding with the Women’s World Cup final, which other post office staff were watching. They reported hearing a gunshot, which led to the discovery of Constable Kishanlal Sharma, a resident of Dhadoli village in Jaipur district, found deceased. Sharma, who joined the Rajasthan police in 2021, was stationed at the Bundi police line.

The police are actively investigating all potential causes for the constable’s death, including suicide and accidental discharge, and have not ruled out any possibilities. The incident occurred on Sunday night while the Village Development Officer (VDO) examination was underway at 20 centers in Bundi city.
Constable Kishanlal Sharma and Head Constable Yusuf were assigned to guard the answer sheets of the VDO examination, which were being secured for transport to Kota. According to Bundi Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Uma Sharma, both constables, along with other post office staff, were watching the Women’s World Cup final match on a phone. Constable Sharma reportedly took the service revolver assigned to Head Constable Yusuf and entered a nearby bathroom shortly before the explosion was heard. Upon investigation, he was found critically injured and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
