Pune Track Work: Dentetsu, John Wick, Magileto, and Akitania Deliver Stellar Performances

Excitement buzzed at the Pune race tracks this Monday morning, November 3rd, as several top horses put on a stellar display during their exercise sessions. Among the standouts were Dentetsu, John Wick, Magileto, and Akitania, all of whom impressed onlookers with their strong performances.

Inner Sand Workouts:

During the crucial inner sand workouts, several horses demonstrated their fitness and speed:

  • 800m: Key West (ridden by Parmar), Maratha Admiral (rb), and South Beach (Ranjane) clocked 52 seconds for 800m and 37 seconds for 600m, moving together effortlessly. Caccini (Bharat) completed the 800m in 51 seconds and 600m in 38 seconds, showing slight encouragement. Two-year-olds Rampage (P. Vinod) and Silver Dynamite (Aditya) also covered 800m in 51 seconds and 600m in 37 seconds, maintaining a free and level pace. Youngsters Rambo (T.S. Jodha) and Vortex (Mosin) finished level, recording 54 seconds for 800m and 39 seconds for 600m. In a notable performance, Dedication (Umesh), starting four lengths behind Joaquin (P. Vinod), impressively finished two lengths ahead, with timings of 50 seconds for 800m and 38 seconds for 600m.
  • 1000m: Once You Go Black (Umesh) worked freely, finishing in 1 minute 7 seconds for 1000m, 51 seconds for 800m, and 38 seconds for 600m. Pristine Glory (Bharat) was urged in the final stretch, completing the 1000m in 1 minute 5 seconds, 800m in 51 seconds, and 600m in 38 seconds. John Wick (Umesh) responded admirably, clocking 1 minute 5 seconds for 1000m, 49 seconds for 800m, and 37 seconds for 600m. Akitania (Umesh) truly impressed with 1 minute 4 seconds for 1000m, 48 seconds for 800m, and 36 seconds for 600m. Magileto (A. Gaikwad) moved gracefully, recording 1 minute 4 seconds for 1000m, 50 seconds for 800m, and 38 seconds for 600m.
  • 1200m: Dentetsu (Umesh) responded exceptionally well to urgings, finishing 1200m in 1 minute 18 seconds, 1000m in 1 minute 3 seconds, 800m in 50 seconds, and 600m in 38 seconds. Chicago Chimes (Bharat) worked freely, completing 1200m in 1 minute 23 seconds, 1000m in 1 minute 9 seconds, 800m in 55 seconds, and 600m in 42 seconds.

Inner Sand Gate Practice:

  • 1000m: Two-year-olds Daredevil (Yash) and Pinnacle (N.B. Kuldeep) showed excellent form from the gates, clocking 1 minute 9 seconds for 1000m, 54 seconds for 800m, and 40 seconds for 600m, finishing level. Paloma (S.J. Sunil) demonstrated superior speed against Deauville/Usha (Aditya), finishing three lengths ahead in a 1000m run that took 1 minute 11 seconds (600m in 43 seconds).

Highlights from November 2nd Workouts:

A day prior, on November 2nd, other horses also had their turns:

  • Inner Sand (600m): Two-year-olds Cosmology (A. Prakash) and Angelisa (Trevor) had an easy run, finishing in 42 seconds.
  • Inner Sand (800m): Bishop (Vivek G) completed his easy session in 56 seconds (600m in 41s). Brasilier (Trevor) also had an easy workout, finishing in 55 seconds (600m in 41s). Oliver (Vivek G) moved fluently, recording 55 seconds (600m in 40s). Kings Gambit (Vivek G) showed good form, finishing in 53 seconds (600m in 39s). Two-year-olds Valle’e Dela Loire (Vivek G) and Zanele (Trevor) finished level in 55 seconds (600m in 41s). Baychimo (Nirmal) and Golden Kingdom (Ramswarup) had easy runs, clocking 57 seconds (600m in 42s). Shaandaar (Vivek G) and Hermanus (Trevor), both two-year-olds, also had an easy paired workout in 57 seconds (600m in 42s). Tempo (Ajinkya) and Phoenix Tower/Quesada (Pranil) finished level in 57 seconds (600m in 42s). Sanctified (Vivek G) and Lorenzo (A. Prakash) were level in their 57-second (600m in 42s) run. Puccini (Pranil) and D’ Artagnan (Trevor) moved freely together, clocking 55 seconds (600m in 41s).
  • Inner Sand (1000m): Two-year-olds Mahogany (A. Prakash) and Margaretta (Vivek G) finished level with ease, recording 1 minute 9 seconds for 1000m, 54 seconds for 800m, and 39 seconds for 600m.

Mock Races on November 2nd:

  • First Mock Race (1200m on Race Track): A competitive mock race saw Divine Star (Mustakim), Sovereign King (Ramswarup), Luminosity (Mosin), Storm (T.S. Jodha), Savage Peacock (Santosh), Otello (Pranil), Eaton Square (Mosin), and Star Romance (S.J. Sunil) compete. The race was completed in 1 minute 9 seconds, with 600m in 35 seconds, and the finishes were tight: Nose, Dist, and 6 lengths. Divine Star secured a pillar-to-post victory, while Sovereign King made a strong comeback from fourth place to clinch a close second. Unfortunately, Eaton Square and Star Romance remained in the stalls at the start.
  • Second Mock Race (1400m): In the second mock race, Miss American Pie (P. Dhebe) dominated, winning start-to-finish by four lengths, with a total time of 1 minute 26 seconds. Other participants included Harrison (T.S. Jodha), Stormy Sea (Parmar), Fynbos (Trevor), Namiri (A. Prakash), Azalea (Ajinkya), and Charlie (Bharat).
