P.V. Ushakumari officially assumed her role as the Director of Mysuru Airport on October 31st, marking a pivotal moment for both the airport and Indian aviation.
Notably, Ms. Ushakumari’s appointment makes her the very first woman to lead Mysuru Airport, a significant milestone in the country’s aviation sector. Prior to this groundbreaking role, she served as the Deputy General Manager and Head of Airside Operations at Kozhikode Karipur International Airport, bringing a wealth of experience to her new position.
Hailing from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Ms. Ushakumari’s career in aviation began as a security supervisor within the Operations Department at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. During her tenure at Chennai Airport, she was instrumental in setting up the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC), demonstrating her foresight and organizational prowess.
Her exceptional leadership shone brightly during challenging times. In the devastating 2015 Chennai floods, she proved her ability to maintain seamless airport operations against immense odds. Furthermore, her commendable efforts during the 2018 Kerala floods at Thiruvananthapuram Airport, where she facilitated crucial passenger movement, underscored her remarkable crisis management and organizational skills.
