The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has officially called for legal action against BJP MLC C.T. Ravi, urging the police to file a case concerning an alleged casteist slur.
According to a complaint submitted by KPCC spokesperson M. Lakshman to the Devaraja police station in Mysuru on Monday, the incident reportedly occurred during Mr. Ravi’s recent visit to Chickamagaluru Medical College. Mr. Lakshman stated that Ravi allegedly insulted the College Dean over a phone call during this visit.
The spokesperson emphasized that such caste-based insults are strictly prohibited under state law, which mandates the registration of cases against individuals making such remarks. He pressed the police to promptly register a First Information Report (FIR) and pursue appropriate legal measures.
