Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently announced a substantial financial commitment of ₹1 crore to the upcoming Chenanda hockey championship. This exciting tournament is scheduled to energize Kodagu district in 2026.
During the championship’s logo unveiling event, the Chief Minister passionately stated, “The Kodava community and hockey are inextricably linked. Many Kodava players have showcased exceptional talent on the international stage, bringing immense pride to our nation. We deeply value and are proud of the unique cultural heritage maintained by the Kodavas.”
He further affirmed the government’s support, saying, “We are committed to providing ₹1 crore for the 2026 hockey championship, and I personally look forward to witnessing the thrilling matches.”
Distinguished guests present at the ceremony included Ministers Byrathi Suresh, N.S. Boseraju, and Shivaraj Tangadagi, alongside the Chief Minister’s legal adviser, A.S. Ponnanna.
