For far too long, residents and visitors in Kannur city have grappled with the frustrating challenge of finding adequate parking. But soon, these long-standing woes will become a distant memory! The Kannur Corporation is delighted to announce the grand inauguration of two cutting-edge multi-level parking centers on November 1st, coinciding with Kerala Day.
Mayor Musliah Madathil shared exciting details, confirming that one facility, strategically located at Stadium Corner near Jawahar Stadium, will open its doors at 10 a.m. The second modern center is situated at Prabhat Junction. These impressive, fully automated parking hubs are a significant achievement under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) project, constructed with an investment of ₹12.4 crore by Pune-based Adi Soft Technology Private Limited.
The Stadium Corner facility is a marvel of urban planning, featuring four distinct units spread across six floors, offering a substantial capacity for 124 cars. Each floor is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 31 vehicles. Meanwhile, the center near Prabhat Junction provides a six-floor single unit capable of parking 31 cars. Complementary works, including interlocking tiles and robust compound walls, have also been meticulously completed to ensure a seamless experience.
The Mayor expressed confidence that these new facilities will dramatically reduce traffic congestion, particularly around the bustling Kannur railway station, an area historically plagued by severe parking shortages. This initiative marks a significant step forward in enhancing urban convenience and quality of life for everyone in Kannur.
