The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially clarified a point of confusion for candidates preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2026 concerning the use of calculators.
While the official Information Bulletin for JEE Mains 2026 mentioned the availability of an onscreen standard calculator for the Computer-Based Test (CBT), the NTA has stated that this feature is part of the general testing platform and does not apply to the JEE Mains examination itself. Therefore, candidates are explicitly informed that calculators, in any form, are strictly prohibited during the exam.
The NTA acknowledged this as a typographic error in the Information Bulletin and has apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused. They strongly advise all candidates to download and refer to the revised Information Bulletin, which is available on the NTA’s official website.
In related news, the registration for JEE Mains 2026 Session 1 began on October 31, 2025, and will remain open until November 27, 2025. Candidates can apply through the official NTA JEE website.
The JEE Mains Session 1 exams are scheduled to take place from January 21 to January 30, 2026, and will be conducted in 13 different languages.
