This Indian trio played an instrumental role in guiding their nation to a maiden World Cup triumph, with India securing a decisive 52-run victory over South Africa in the final match on Sunday.
The runners-up, South Africa, also saw three of their players selected. Their skipper, Laura Wolvaardt, was named captain of the Team of the Tournament, a testament to her sensational batting prowess. England’s Sophie Ecclestone also secured a spot after her strong performances helped her side reach the semi-finals, with her compatriot Nat Sciver-Brunt being named the 12th player.
Opening batter Smriti Mandhana showcased remarkable consistency, scoring 434 runs at an impressive average of 54.25, including one century and two half-centuries. She finished as the tournament’s second-leading run-scorer, just behind Wolvaardt.
Mandhana’s highlight was her commanding 109 against New Zealand in Navi Mumbai. Her consecutive scores of 80 and 88 against formidable teams like Australia and England prior to her century further underscored her ability to perform under pressure against top-tier opposition.
