For all aspiring engineers preparing for JEE Main 2026, here’s a crucial update from the National Testing Agency (NTA): calculators, whether virtual or physical, are strictly prohibited during the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026.
The NTA issued an official public notice on November 2, 2025, to clarify this matter. Previously, the Information Bulletin mistakenly mentioned the availability of an on-screen standard calculator for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). The agency explained that this was a typographical error, carried over from a generic template used for other test platforms. They have now emphasized that calculators are absolutely not allowed for JEE (Main).
Revised Bulletin Now Available
To rectify the confusion, the NTA has promptly uploaded a revised Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) 2026 on its official website. This updated document clearly outlines the correct exam conduct rules, removing the erroneous mention of calculator availability.
NTA Expresses Regret for Inconvenience
The agency also conveyed its apologies, stating: “NTA regrets the typographic error in the Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026 and for the inconvenience caused to the candidates.”
JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Applications Underway
Meanwhile, the online application process for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1, which is scheduled for January 2026, is currently active on the official website. The second session of the examination will take place in April 2026.
Candidates are strongly advised to download and review the newly revised Information Bulletin. For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the examination, students should regularly check the official NTA websites.
