A distressing incident occurred recently at the Morarji Desai residential school, located in Hirekodi village near Chikkodi in Karnataka’s Belagavi district. On November 3rd, twelve students were rushed to a local hospital, suspected victims of food poisoning.
The affected group included ten girls and two boys, who reported symptoms such as nausea, severe stomach pain, and vomiting. Thankfully, officials have confirmed that all students are currently recovering well and are in stable condition.
This incident has ignited significant concern among parents, with many voicing accusations of negligence against the school’s teachers and staff. Speaking to reporters in Chikkodi on November 3rd, Madiwalappa, a concerned parent, highlighted the gravity of the situation: “This is not an isolated event; it’s the second time in just one month that students at this school have fallen ill due to suspected food poisoning. If these issues persist, we will have no choice but to withdraw our children from the school.” This recurring problem underscores the urgent need for a thorough investigation and improved safety protocols.
