The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the prestigious organizing body for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, has officially launched its application correction window. This is a vital chance for all candidates to review and amend any inaccuracies in their previously submitted forms. The correction portal is now active and will remain open until November 3, 2025. During this period, applicants can meticulously update crucial information such as their name, date of birth, preferred exam city, chosen paper, gender, and category. Please note that a specific fee, varying with the type of modification, will be required for these corrections.

GATE 2026 Application Corrections: Understanding the Fee Structure

For those needing to make changes, a non-refundable correction fee will apply. Here’s a breakdown of the official charges:

  • Changes to your name, date of birth, exam city, or chosen exam paper will each incur a fee of ₹500.
  • Updating your gender to female costs ₹500.
  • Changing your gender from female to any other gender will be ₹500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, and ₹1,500 for all other candidates.
  • A change in category to SC/ST is ₹500.
  • If you’re changing your category from SC/ST to another, the fee is ₹500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, and ₹1,500 for all other candidates.
  • Switching from Non-PwD/Dyslexic to PwD/Dyslexic status also costs ₹500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and ₹1,500 for all others.
  • All other category modifications will cost ₹500.

It’s good news for some changes! Updates to details like your parents’ or guardians’ information, correspondence address, college name and location, roll number, or qualifying degree will not incur any additional fees.
