A peculiar invincibility glitch has seemingly prompted Epic Games to temporarily remove The Simpsons’ iconic couch from Fortnite. Players are currently unable to interact with the familiar animated furniture, a decision that arrives with particularly awkward timing.
Just last night, The Simpsons episode featured an opening couch gag starring Fortnite characters. The official Fortnite Status account on a popular social media platform announced the issue at 8:05 PM ET on November 2, a mere five minutes after The Simpsons episode began. This particular couch gag showed the beloved Peely meeting an untimely end, giving a new, unsettling twist to the concept of a “Fortnite skin.”
Meanwhile, a prominent social media user, Relishh, speculates the in-game couch was disabled due to an exploit allowing players to become invincible. The Fortnite Status account shared this message: “🛋️ We’ve temporarily disabled the Simpsons Couch in Fortnite to fix an issue. We’ll fix this and get you and the squad back on the couch to clip your own Simpsons intros as soon as we can.” (Posted November 3, 2025)
This unusual glitch reportedly involved bringing Homer’s car to the couch, damaging the vehicle to zero health, and then sitting on the furniture. This chain of events would trigger an explosion, setting the player’s health to zero permanently. However, a squadmate could then revive the player, granting them invincibility for the remainder of the match.
The highly anticipated The Simpsons season recently launched in Fortnite over the weekend. This major crossover has transformed the entire game island into a detailed Springfield map, complete with iconic locations such as Homer’s workplace, the nuclear power plant, Moe’s Tavern, and, naturally, the Simpsons’ residence with its famous couch. The battle royale game’s Battle Pass is also fully themed around the beloved animated series, offering players the chance to unlock a “Stupid Sexy Flanders” skin, among other rewards.
It’s no surprise that this won’t be Fortnite’s final collaboration. Dataminers are already hinting at exciting future crossovers, potentially featuring fan-favorites like SpongeBob SquarePants and Harry Potter.
