In a significant ruling, the Third Additional District Judge’s Court in Kadapa, which also serves as the designated POCSO Court, has handed down a life imprisonment sentence along with a fine of ₹2,500 to an individual convicted of sexually assaulting a minor.
The grave incident unfolded in October 2018, when the accused, 62-year-old Shaik Sunnambatti Jalaluddin, sexually assaulted a sixteen-year-old girl, leading to her pregnancy. Following the birth of a baby girl, the young victim bravely filed a complaint with the Proddatur police. Authorities promptly registered a case under the appropriate legal provisions.
The police swiftly filed a charge sheet and apprehended Jalaluddin, ensuring his immediate presentation before the court. During Tuesday’s hearing, Judge S. Praveen Kumar delivered the decisive verdict.
Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke commended the diligent efforts of the Proddatur police and the dedicated prosecution team for their work on this case.
