Get ready, Bengaluru! The North Corporation is sparking a major clean-up with a fantastic incentive: cash rewards of up to ₹1 lakh for the cleanest areas. This intensive, mass cleaning drive is scheduled for November 8, running from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will cover critical zones within the Greater Bangalore Authority’s North Corporation limits.
Spearheaded by North Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, this initiative is designed to boost sanitation across an impressive 93.9 kilometers of roads. The targeted areas include the assembly constituencies of Hebbal, Pulakeshi Nagar, Sarvagnanagar, Yelahanka, Byatarayanapura, Dasarahalli, and Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
The scope of work is comprehensive, encompassing everything from clearing accumulated waste, silt, and debris to removing fallen tree branches. Crucially, the drive will also focus on thoroughly cleaning storm-water drains and refreshing public spaces to ensure a healthier urban environment.
This large-scale effort will see a coordinated approach involving multiple departments, including Solid Waste Management, Road Infrastructure, Health, Horticulture, Forest, Lake Management, and the Traffic Police. These government bodies will collaborate closely with local community organizations to ensure maximum impact and efficiency.
To fuel enthusiastic participation and outstanding results, the corporation will be rewarding the top three performing areas based on the excellence of their cleaning endeavors. The first-place winner will receive a substantial ₹1 lakh, the second-place area ₹50,000, and the third-place finisher ₹25,000. Additionally, divisional-level consolation prizes will be distributed. Independent inspections conducted by NGOs and other civic organizations will determine the deserving winners, ensuring fairness and transparency.
