The Chittoor police force achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday, November 4th, by successfully recovering and returning a staggering 315 lost or stolen mobile phones. These devices, collectively valued at ₹63 lakh, were handed back to their grateful owners during a special ‘mobile recovery mela’ event.
During the handover ceremony at the Police Guest House, Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment. He revealed that this latest achievement brings the total number of recovered mobile phones to an impressive 4,106 across 13 distinct phases, with a cumulative value of ₹8.55 crore. These lost devices were tracked down and retrieved from various states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra, showcasing a wide-reaching effort.
Superintendent Dudi further explained that their recovery efforts extend beyond local boundaries; phones belonging to individuals outside the district and even the state are recovered and promptly dispatched to their owners via courier services. He also emphasized the convenience of modern reporting methods, stating that citizens who lose their mobile phones no longer need to visit a police station to file a First Information Report (FIR). Instead, they can easily lodge a complaint with a simple click through the Chat Bot or CEIR services, streamlining the recovery process for everyone.
