Police in Bellandur have successfully located a three-year-old female stray dog, reportedly subjected to a brutal sexual assault by a group of men. The horrific incident is believed to have occurred on October 13, within a labor shed situated near a residential complex in Chikkanayakanahalli.
Following a compassionate complaint from an animal activist, law enforcement officials have registered a First Information Report (FIR). The case invokes provisions from the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, alongside Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses malicious acts causing harm or rendering an animal useless. This move signifies a serious commitment to a comprehensive investigation.
The complainant, who regularly fed the stray dog, named Mili, reported a deeply disturbing sighting on the night of October 13. She witnessed a group of men assaulting the dog within the labor shed. Mili subsequently went missing, only to be found three days later exhibiting severe swelling in her private area, indicating grave injury and trauma.
Initially, the activist sought help from Varthur police, who then guided her to the Bellandur station, where the formal complaint was lodged on October 18. Investigators promptly initiated a detailed probe, meticulously reviewing footage from over 25 CCTV cameras in the vicinity. This led to the discovery of Mili, who was then taken for urgent medical attention by veterinary professionals. A vaginal swab was collected and dispatched to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for in-depth analysis, crucial for confirming the nature of the crime.
Authorities are currently awaiting the crucial FSL report, which is expected to provide definitive evidence to advance the ongoing investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
