A viral video that circulated online, purportedly showing a foreign woman defecating into a lake in Udaipur, has caused significant anger and confusion. However, the individual featured in the clip has since clarified that the incident did not occur in India.
The video, initially shared on Instagram, depicted a woman on a boat seemingly relieving herself in a lake with a crocodile nearby. The accompanying caption and text overlay falsely identified her as an American tourist defecating in Udaipur.
Following the widespread backlash, the woman in the video, identified as Australian influencer Ellie-Jean Coffey, took to her own Instagram to set the record straight. She stated, “I’m setting the record straight: I’m Australian. This is the Aussie outback. It was not in India.” She further explained that the video was filmed in Australia, and the text overlay on her clip humorously noted, “Croc almost got me.”
Despite the clarification, the initial misrepresentation fueled online discussions, with many users expressing frustration over the apparent lack of civic sense and the spread of misinformation.
