Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to make a significant global impact at the 14th Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, taking place in Barcelona starting November 4. A high-profile, three-member delegation from the state government, headed by Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development) S. Suresh Kumar, will proudly present Andhra Pradesh’s innovative smart initiatives.
S. Suresh Kumar, a prominent figure, is slated to address the esteemed international gathering as a ‘distinguished speaker’ representing India. This announcement comes via an official press release, underscoring the importance of the state’s participation.
Joining Mr. Kumar on this crucial mission are Ketan Garg, Commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, and Narapureddy Maurya, Commissioner of the Tirupati Municipal Corporation, forming a strong leadership team.
The global expo itself centers around the exciting theme of Artificial Intelligence-powered smart initiatives in urban development. Notably, S. Suresh Kumar has a rich history in this domain; he was instrumental in shaping India’s national Smart Cities plan, launched nationwide in 2015, during his time as Private Secretary to the then Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. Today, he continues to lead Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious urban transformation projects.
Highlighting the broader vision, Mr. Kumar emphasized that the congress offers an unparalleled learning opportunity. He noted that numerous smart cities globally provide valuable models and strategies that urban local bodies can adapt and implement to significantly improve living conditions through intelligent and modern interventions.
Beyond the main expo, the Andhra Pradesh delegation will also actively participate in several other key events in Barcelona, including the Mobility World Congress, Building World Congress, Blue Economy World Congress, and the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit. Their engagement across these diverse platforms underscores the state’s comprehensive approach to future urban development.
