In a remarkable display of economic resilience, Andhra Pradesh announced its net GST collections for October 2025 reached an impressive ₹3,021 crore, marking the second-highest figure ever recorded for the month. This achievement comes even as tax rates on various goods were reduced and the cess on ‘sin goods’ was largely removed.
Chief Commissioner of State Tax, Babu A., highlighted that the gross GST collections for October also hit a substantial ₹3,490 crore, making it the third-highest October on record. This consistent growth reflects a robust economic environment within the state.
For seven consecutive months, from April to October 2025, net GST collections have consistently surpassed those of the corresponding months in the previous financial year. This trend strongly suggests a steady and sustained expansion in economic activity and consumer spending across Andhra Pradesh, as noted by Mr. Babu.
He further elaborated that the net GST collections saw an 8.77% increase, a robust performance particularly notable given the downward adjustments in tax rates for several commodities.
This growth is particularly significant as it occurred despite a reduction in rates for key consumer essentials, consumer durables, pharmaceuticals, and cement. Additionally, GST on both life and medical insurance was withdrawn as part of the new GST 2.0 reforms. The GST compensation cess has also been removed from all applicable items, with the exception of tobacco and its related products. It’s important to remember that the revenue collected in October 2025 pertains to business transactions conducted in September 2025.
The state’s sustained revenue growth is attributed to a combination of increased consumption resulting from these rate reductions, strategic policy initiatives, and enhanced compliance mechanisms. These factors collectively contributed to October 2025 being one of the highest-grossing Octobers since the Goods and Services Tax was first implemented in 2017.
Breaking down the figures, State GST (SGST) collections alone reached ₹1,247 crore in October 2025, showing an impressive 6.20% increase compared to October 2024. This surge indicates improved consumption patterns across various sectors, coupled with effective tax administration and strengthened enforcement efforts.
When compared to October 2023, SGST collections demonstrated even stronger growth, rising by 13.42%, which underscores a consistent year-on-year upward trend.
Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh received ₹1,773 crore through Integrated GST (IGST) settlement in October 2025, marking a 10.65% increase over October 2024. This improvement highlights the government’s effective monitoring systems, timely reconciliations, and efficient settlement processes for integrated taxes.
