A landmark event took place at Kamaraj Memorial Hall recently with the formation of the Bhagavad Ramanujar Thennacharya Sampradaya Sabha (BRTSS). This newly established assembly brings together hereditary Acharyas and Jeeyars representing the 74 sacred lineages founded by the revered Saint Ramanuja.
The core mission of the BRTSS is to foster unity among the diverse traditional mutts and thirumaligais (sacred homes) that follow Ramanuja’s profound spiritual philosophy, ensuring its enduring legacy.
Americai V. Narayanan, the convener of the BRTSS, highlighted the immense effort involved in bringing these spiritual leaders together. He explained that for centuries, Acharyas from Ramanuja’s 74 Simhasanadhipati lineages have individually guided their followers. Now, the BRTSS will serve as a vital bridge, not only uniting followers of the Thenkalai sect within Sri Vaishnavism but also promoting understanding and connection with individuals of other faiths.
The event also featured inspiring spiritual discourses. Venkatesh delivered a talk focusing on Saint Ramanuja’s life and teachings, while M.A. Venkatakrishnan spoke about Embar Swamy, Ramanuja’s principal disciple. Additionally, video messages from Acharyas unable to attend in person were shared with the attendees.
Further insights were provided by Pradhivadhi Bhayankaram Annangarachar Swami and the renowned orator Akkarakani Srinidhi Swami, who shed light on the invaluable work of Jeeyars in North India, specifically recognizing the contributions of Lakshmi Prapanna Jeeyar from Buxar in Bihar.
